Recent Supreme Court Activity

Here is an update on recent activity at the Supreme Court in cases decided by the Federal Circuit. Since our last update, we posted a recap of the oral argument in President Trump’s case pending at the Court. As for pending petitions, new petitions were filed in a patent case, a case originating at the Merit Systems Protection Board, and a pro se case; a reply brief was filed in support of a petition in a takings case; an amicus brief was filed in a trademark case; and the Court denied four petitions raising questions in two patent cases and two pro se cases. Opinions & Orders – June 4, 2025

This morning, the Federal Circuit released two precedential opinions, two nonprecedential opinions, and two Rule 36 summary affirmances. Of the precedential opinions, one of the cases was a patent case appealed from a district court and the other was a case appealed from the Court of Federal Claims. Both of the nonprecedential opinions come in cases appealed from the Merit Systems Protection Board. Here are the introductions to the opinions and links to the summary affirmances.

Opinions & Orders – November 7, 2024

Yesterday afternoon the Federal Circuit released five nonprecedential orders, which were all dismissals. This morning the Federal Circuit released two nonprecedential opinions and two nonprecedential orders. The first opinion affirms a dismissal for lack of jurisdiction by the Court of Federal Claims, while the second opinion affirms a judgment of the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. The first order transfers a case to the District of Arizona, while the second order is another dismissal. Here are the introductions to the opinions and transfer as well as links to the dismissals.
