On Wednesday, the Federal Circuit announced that next month it will be relocating the court’s drop box and changing the times when it will be available. Here is the text of the announcement.

Yesterday, the Federal Circuit announced proposed amendments to the Federal Circuit Rules of Practice. Among other things, the amendments would add a new section permitting an eligible law student to enter an appearance on behalf of a party with the consent of the party and a supervising attorney, as well as appear on briefs and participate in oral arguments in appropriate circumstances. The amendments would also prohibit former court employees from disclosing to new employers or potential employers the list they receive of pending cases that they may not participate in or assist with after employment at the court. On Friday, the Federal Circuit announced the release of additional materials in the ongoing investigation of Judge Newman’s fitness to serve on the court. Yesterday, the Federal Circuit announced the release of materials in the ongoing investigation of Judge Newman’s fitness to serve on the court. The materials include expert reports, deposition transcripts, and orders of the Special Committee investigating Judge Newman. Notably, the materials also include a “Report & Recommendation” filed yesterday. As it explains, the report and recommendation “details the Committee’s findings which lead it to conclude: (i) that there is a reasonable basis to order full neuropsychological testing by a provider selected by the Committee; (ii) that Judge Newman’s continued refusal to cooperate with the Committee’s investigation by undergoing that testing constitutes continuing misconduct; and (iii) that the Judicial Council should renew the sanction of suspending Judge Newman from hearing cases for a period of one year.” Here is the full text of the announcement with links to the materials.
