This week is Court Week at the Federal Circuit. The court will convene 12 panels to consider 67 cases. Of the 67 cases, the court will hear oral argument in 44. The Federal Circuit provides access to live audio of these arguments via the Federal Circuit’s YouTube channel. This month, four cases scheduled for oral argument attracted amicus briefs. Here’s what you need to know about these four cases.

Arlton v. AeroVironment, Inc.

As explained in our argument preview, in this patent case the Federal Circuit will review a district court’s summary judgment ruling “that Plaintiffs’ claim for patent infringement is barred by [28 U.S.C.] § 1498,” as well as reversal of a denial of their motion for leave to file a first amended complaint.

Caroline W. Tan will argue for the United States.

This argument is scheduled to be heard on Monday, October 6 at 10:00 am at Suffolk University Law School as part of the Federal Circuit’s sitting in and around Boston while concurrently holding its regular session in Washington, D.C.

REGENXBIO Inc. v. Sarepta Therapeutics, Inc.

As explained in our argument preview, in this patent case the Federal Circuit will review a district court’s grant of summary judgment of patent ineligibility.

Entropic Communications, LLC v. Charter Communications, Inc.

As explained in our argument preview, in this patent case the Federal Circuit will review a district court’s denial of Electronic Frontier Foundation’s motion to intervene and unseal judicial records.

This argument is scheduled to be heard on Tuesday, October 7 at 10:00 am in Courtroom 201.

C.R. Bard, Inc. v. AngioDynamics, Inc.

As explained in our argument preview, in this patent case the Federal Circuit will review numerous rulings by a district court, including rulings concerning patent eligibility, definiteness, and anticipation.
