As reported in our news post this morning, following a period of public comment, the Federal Circuit announced that it has adopted amendments to the Federal Circuit Rules of Practice and the Federal Circuit Attorney Discipline Rules. These amendments take effect July 1, 2020, and will apply to all cases filed or pending on or after July 1.
The court made several modifications to the originally-proposed amendments, while all other originally-proposed amendments were adopted without changes. The modifications to the amendments impact requirements in the filing process, including electronic service procedures, confidentiality designations, court inaccessibility procedures, appendix requirements, and filing deadlines.
The court provided a final public notice, an order adopting the amendments, a draft copy of the new Federal Circuit Rules of Practice, and a summary of the adopted amendments.
Edits and corrections to the draft copy may be submitted to the Clerk’s Office by the close of business today, and the Clerk’s Office will issue a final version of the Federal Circuit Rules of Practice on June 30.
For more information on the originally-proposed amendments, see our prior coverage and the documents linked there.
